Vice President Radhakrishnan to undertake two

Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan is set to undertake a two-day official visit to Sri Lanka from April 19 to 20, 2026, in what will be the first bilateral visit by an Indian Vice President to the island nation. The visit comes amid renewed high-level engagement between the two countries and is expected to deepen long-standing diplomatic and cultural ties.
During his visit, Radhakrishnan will call on Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayaka and hold discussions with Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, along with other senior leaders. He will also engage with members of the Indian-origin Tamil community and Tamil leaders from the Northern and Eastern regions, underlining India’s continued outreach to the community.
In Colombo, the Vice President will address the Indian diaspora at a community event, where he will virtually hand over houses built under the Government of India-supported Indian Housing Project. With the completion of its third phase, the project will see a total of 50,000 houses delivered to Tamil communities, while an additional 10,000 homes are currently under construction as part of the fourth phase.
On April 20, the Vice President will travel to Nuwara Eliya to visit project sites and interact with beneficiaries from the local Tamil community. The visit is expected to further strengthen the millennia-old civilisational links and people-to-people connections that form the bedrock of India-Sri Lanka relations.
