UAE condemns strike on Iran

The United Arab Emirates has condemned the recent targeting of Iranian facilities the South Pars gas field shared with Qatar, calling the attack a “dangerous escalation.” Tehran has blamed the United States and Israel for the strike. In a statement, the UAE foreign ministry said the attacks on energy infrastructure linked to Iran’s South Pars gas field, which extends from Qatar’s North Field, posed a direct threat to global energy security. “Targeting energy facilities not only threatens regional stability but also carries serious environmental risks and endangers civilians, maritime security, and critical infrastructure,” the ministry said. The UAE urged all parties to avoid attacks on vital facilities, stressing the importance of adhering to international law and maintaining security and stability across the Gulf region.
Iran’s leadership has warned that if strikes on its energy infrastructure continue, it “will respond by targeting energy facilities across the Gulf,” including oil and gas sites in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, raising fears of further escalation. Iran’s state media issued an explicit warning earlier today, naming the UAE’s Al Hosn Gas Field, which includes the Shah gas field, as a legitimate target and advising all employees to evacuate immediately. Operations at the Shah Gas Field were already suspended following a drone attack this past Monday, March 16, and the facility remains offline as damage assessments continue.
