Tamil Nadu CM Vijay holds key meeting with PM Modi in New Delhi

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Wednesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, barely weeks after taking office following the Assembly election victory.
The meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office in Seva Teerth assumes significance as Vijay seeks to position his government at the national level after steering the state’s first coalition government in decades.
Soon after the interaction with the Prime Minister, Vijay arrived at Tamil Nadu House where he was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour during his maiden official visit to the national Capital since taking oath as Chief Minister on May 10.
The TVK chief had comfortably won the trust vote in the Tamil Nadu Assembly earlier this month, further consolidating his position as head of the coalition government. The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) emerged as the single-largest party in the Assembly elections and formed the government with the support of the Congress, CPI, CPI(M), VCK and IUML.
