Sensex, Nifty End Lower After Range-Bound Trade

Benchmark domestic equity indices, the Sensex and the Nifty, opened on a positive note but unable to hold gains, later ended lower after a range-bound trade today.
“The Sensex shed 148 points or 0.18 per cent to close at 83 thousand 311, while the Nifty dipped 88 points or 0.34 per cent to settle at 25 thousand 510. In the broader market indices at the Bombay Stock Exchange closed in negative zone. The Mid-Cap index lost 1.2 per cent, and the Small-Cap index fell over one and half a per cent.
In the forex market, the rupee today appreciated by four paise to close at 88 rupees and 62 paise against the US dollar.
