Rajnath Singh attends release of Operation Sindoor documentary in Jaipur

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday participated in the release of a documentary on Operation Sindoor at the headquarters of the South Western Command in Jaipur.

The Defence Minister also attended a briefing during the Joint Commanders’ Conference held at the headquarters.
Chief of Defence Staff Anil Chauhan, Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi, Navy Chief Dinesh K Tripathi and Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh were also present at the event.

Earlier in the day, Rajnath Singh paid tribute to the valour and sacrifices of the Indian armed forces on the anniversary of Operation Sindoor.

Describing the operation as a “powerful symbol of national resolve and preparedness,” the Defence Minister said it reflected the armed forces’ precision, coordination and readiness to act decisively in safeguarding the nation.

In a post on X, Singh said, “On the anniversary of Operation Sindoor, we salute the valour and sacrifices of our armed forces, whose courage and dedication continue to safeguard the nation.”

He added that the operation demonstrated “unmatched precision, seamless jointness and deep synergy across services,” setting a benchmark for modern military operations.

The Defence Minister also said the operation highlighted India’s growing self-reliance in defence capabilities under the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Operation Sindoor was launched in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives and prompted a military response from India.

Under the operation, Indian armed forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
Launched on May 7, 2025, the operation reportedly destroyed nine terror launchpads linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen. More than 100 terrorists were killed during the strikes, according to official statements.

Pakistan later responded with drone attacks and shelling, leading to a four-day military confrontation between the two countries.
India carried out retaliatory strikes targeting radar installations in Lahore and radar facilities near Gujranwala.

The hostilities ended on May 10 after Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations contacted the Indian DGMO, following which both sides agreed to a ceasefire.
