PM Modi speaks with Oman’s Sultan, discusses regional stability and Strait of Hormuz security

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held a telephonic conversation with Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, during which the two leaders discussed regional developments and exchanged festive greetings.
In a post on X, PM Modi described the interaction as “productive,” noting that both nations remain aligned on promoting peace, stability, and secure maritime movement in the region.
PM Modi conveyed advance Eid wishes to the people of Oman and expressed appreciation for the Sultan’s efforts in facilitating the safe return of thousands of people, including Indian nationals, amid ongoing regional tensions.
During the discussion, both leaders reviewed the evolving situation in West Asia and agreed on the importance of prioritising dialogue and diplomacy to achieve de-escalation and restore peace and stability in the region.
The Prime Minister also reiterated India’s condemnation of any violation of Oman’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, underlining New Delhi’s support for the country.
Highlighting the strategic importance of maritime routes, both sides affirmed their shared commitment to ensuring safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical corridor for global energy supplies.
