PM Modi Shares Amit Shah’s Lok Sabha Address on Fight Against Naxalism

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday shared Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s address in the Lok Sabha on the government’s efforts to combat Left Wing Extremism, describing it as a detailed account of the measures taken over the past decade.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “This is an outstanding speech by the Home Minister, Amit Shah Ji, filled with important facts, historical context and the efforts of our Government in the last decade.
For decades, the retrograde Maoist ideology had an adverse impact on the development of several regions. Left Wing Extremism has ruined the future of countless youngsters.
In the last decade, our Government has worked towards uprooting this menace and at the same time ensuring the fruits of development reach areas affected by Naxalism. We will keep focusing on furthering good governance and ensuring peace and prosperity for all.”
Replying to a debate in the Lok Sabha on efforts to eliminate Left Wing Extremism, Home Minister Amit Shah said Naxalism had hindered development in several regions and that poverty in affected areas was a consequence of such extremism.
He stated that the government remains open to dialogue with those who surrender arms, but will take firm action against those who continue to engage in violence.
Shah said Left Wing Extremism had once spread across multiple states, forming a so-called “Red Corridor”, impacting lakhs of people and disrupting governance and development.
Highlighting recent progress, the Home Minister said Naxalism has been significantly reduced in areas such as Bastar, where government initiatives have expanded access to basic services. These include the establishment of schools, ration shops, healthcare centres, and improved delivery of welfare schemes.
He added that people in affected regions are now receiving benefits such as food security, identity documents and improved infrastructure, marking a shift towards development and stability.
The Home Minister also reiterated that there can be no justification for violence and stressed the government’s dual approach of security action and development outreach.
