PM Modi Holds Roadshow in Dehradun Ahead of Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held a roadshow in Dehradun ahead of the inauguration of the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor, a major infrastructure project aimed at enhancing regional connectivity.

A large number of people gathered along the route to welcome the Prime Minister, waving flags and greeting him during the roadshow. Earlier in the day, he also held a similar public outreach programme in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

The 213-kilometre-long, six-lane access-controlled Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor has been developed at a cost of over ₹12,000 crore. The corridor passes through Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, and is expected to significantly improve connectivity between key economic and tourism centres.

As part of the programme, the Prime Minister will review a 12-kilometre-long wildlife corridor, one of the longest in Asia, constructed along an elevated stretch of the expressway in Uttarakhand. The project incorporates multiple features to reduce human-animal conflict and ensure safe movement of wildlife.

The corridor includes eight animal passes, two elephant underpasses of 200 metres each, and a 370-metre-long tunnel near the Daat Kali temple.

The Prime Minister will also offer prayers at the Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple before inaugurating the project at a public event in Dehradun, where he is scheduled to address a gathering.

The project features 10 interchanges, three railway overbridges, four major bridges and 12 wayside amenities. It is also equipped with an Advanced Traffic Management System to enhance safety and efficiency for commuters.

Designed with a focus on sustainability, the corridor reflects efforts to balance high-speed connectivity with environmental protection. Once operational, it is expected to boost economic activity, improve travel experience and open new avenues for trade and tourism in the region.
