PM Modi hands over GPRA Type

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday visited the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Redevelopment Project in Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar and handed over keys to women allottees of newly constructed Type-5 quarters.

The redevelopment is part of the Centre’s initiative to modernise ageing government housing colonies and build improved residential and administrative infrastructure for central government employees.

The GPRA redevelopment programme covers key locations including Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Kasturba Nagar and Sriniwaspuri.

Officials said the projects, with an estimated cost of ₹15,200 crore, are being implemented through a self-sustainable financial model that does not place a burden on the public exchequer.

Under this model, a limited portion of the project land is being developed and monetised for commercial and residential use, and the revenue generated is used to fund the redevelopment of government housing, supporting infrastructure and public facilities.

Once completed, the redevelopment plan will provide over 9,350 modern flats for government employees. It will also create nearly 48 lakh square feet of office space, aimed at improving administrative efficiency.
