PM Modi expresses grief over Bengal boat tragedy, announces Rs 2 lakh ex
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in a boat capsizing incident in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district and announced ex-gratia assistance for the victims’ families.
The Prime Minister conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister’s Office said: “The loss of lives due to the capsizing of a boat in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal is deeply painful. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. May the injured recover at the earliest.”
It added that an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from the PMNRF would be provided to the next of kin of each deceased, while the injured would receive Rs. 50,000.
