Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday concluded his two-day visit to Jordan, marking a milestone as India and Jordan commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations. The visit featured high-level engagements in Amman, including detailed talks with King Abdullah II, and culminated in a joint statement outlining a forward-looking roadmap for the next phase of bilateral cooperation.

During the discussions, the two leaders reviewed the entire spectrum of India–Jordan relations, covering political engagement, economic cooperation, defence and security, technology, culture and regional connectivity. Several agreements were concluded during the visit, reflecting the shared intent of both sides to broaden and modernise the partnership while reinforcing long-standing ties of trust and goodwill.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining regular high-level engagement and working together as trusted partners in pursuit of shared development goals. They agreed to strengthen cooperation across sectors such as digital technology, education, healthcare, agriculture, water management and renewable energy, with a focus on capacity building and sustainable development.

On the economic front, the leaders welcomed the steady growth in bilateral trade, which stood at USD 2.3 billion in 2024, and emphasised the need to diversify the trade basket. They welcomed the Jordan–India Business Forum and agreed to convene the next meeting of the Trade and Economic Joint Committee in 2026. Enhancing cooperation in customs, transport and logistics was identified as a priority, with Jordan’s strategic location seen as a key advantage for boosting regional connectivity and private-sector collaboration.

Cultural and people-to-people ties also received a boost, with the signing of a new cultural exchange programme and a twinning agreement between Petra and the Ellora Caves aimed at promoting tourism and heritage links.

The visit underscored India’s growing engagement with West Asia, with Jordan emerging as an important partner for regional connectivity, trade and people-to-people exchanges. At the conclusion of the visit, Prime Minister Modi thanked King Abdullah II for the warm hospitality, and both leaders expressed confidence that the outcomes of the visit would further strengthen the India–Jordan partnership and contribute to peace, prosperity and stability in the region.
