PM Conveys Eid Greetings to Jordan King, Calls for Peace in West Asia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held a telephonic conversation with King Abdullah II of Jordan, during which the two leaders exchanged advance Eid greetings and discussed the evolving security situation in West Asia.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said he conveyed advance Eid wishes to King Abdullah II and discussed the situation in West Asia, underlining the importance of dialogue and diplomacy. He reiterated that attacks on energy infrastructure are condemnable and appreciated Jordan’s assistance in evacuating Indians.

 

During the conversation, Prime Minister Modi conveyed his greetings ahead of Eid. Both leaders expressed concern over the situation in the region and stressed the need for dialogue and diplomacy to ensure early restoration of peace, security and stability.

 

The Prime Minister said that attacks on energy infrastructure in West Asia are condemnable and could lead to further escalation. He added that India and Jordan support the unhindered transit of goods and energy in the region.

 

Prime Minister Modi also appreciated Jordan’s efforts in facilitating the safe return of Indian nationals stranded due to the ongoing tensions.
