Parliament Disrupted Over Opposition Uproar on Various Issues

The proceedings in both the Houses were disrupted following opposition uproar on various issues, including the rollback of the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll in Bihar. The Lok Sabha was first adjourned till 12 noon and then till 1 PM, while the Rajya Sabha faced adjournment first till 12 noon and then till 2 PM.
When the Lok Sabha met after the first adjournment, the opposition members again started sloganeering over various issues, including demanding a rollback of the Special Intensive Revision in Bihar. Mr. Birla appealed to the opposition to allow Question Hour, saying that it is important and the opposition must participate in it. Amid the noisy scene, Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat replied to a question related to the Swachhata green leaf rating initiative. The Opposition members continued their protest, due to which the Speaker adjourned the House till 12 noon. When the House reassembled after the first adjournment, the opposition members trooped into the well shouting slogans. Mr. Birla again appealed to the protesting members to go back to their seats to allow the House to function. Amidst the din, the House was adjourned till 1 PM.
When the Rajya Sabha met at 12 noon, the presiding officer, Ghanshyam Tiwari, tried to run the Question Hour, but the proceedings were disrupted following the opposition uproar. As the pandemonium continued, the Chair adjourned the House till 2 PM.
Earlier, when the House met at 11 AM, two AIADMK MPs, M. Dhanapal and I S Inbadurai took oath. Deputy Chairman Harivansh said that he has received 26 adjournment notices from different political parties relating to various issues, but the notices were rejected, citing the ruling.
