Operation Sindoor has sent strong global message about India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism: PM Modi –

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said Operation Sindoor has sent a strong global message about India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. He said that India has made it clear that no place is safe for those who harm Indian citizens. He said the country’s defence decisions are now based on what is right and necessary in the national interest.
The Prime Minister was speaking at the centenary celebration of the historic conversation between two of India’s greatest spiritual and moral leaders-Sree Narayana Guru and Mahatma Gandhi-held in New Delhi today.
He emphasised that India’s dependence on foreign arms imports is steadily declining, with the country becoming increasingly Aatmanirbhar in the defence sector. The success of Operation Sindoor, he said, was proof-where Indian armed forces forced the enemy to surrender in just 22 minutes, using Made in India weapons. He expressed confidence that Indian-made defence equipment will soon gain global recognition.
The Prime Minister has said that the ideals of Sree Narayana Guru are a great treasure for all of humanity. He described the revered social reformer as a beacon of light for those committed to serving the country and society.
He said that the historic conversation between Sree Narayana Guru and Mahatma Gandhi, held a century ago at Sivagiri Mutt, gave new direction to the freedom movement and continues to inspire India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat. He added that throughout history, whenever India has faced challenges, visionary leaders have emerged to guide the nation forward.
Mr. Modi said that Sree Narayana Guru envisioned a society free from all forms of discrimination. He emphasised that today, India is working with a saturation approach to eliminate every possibility of discrimination, in line with that vision.
Reflecting on the personal inspiration he draws from the Guru, the Prime Minister said that whenever he takes major decisions for the oppressed and deprived sections of society, he remembers Gurudev. He added that a hundred years ago, when people feared speaking against societal evils, Sree Narayana Guru stood firm-guided by truth, service, and a deep belief in harmony and equality. Mr. Modi said that this inspiration continues to guide the nation on the path of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.
The Prime Minister underlined that while Sree Narayana Guru’s teachings were rooted in Yoga and Vedanta, he also believed that spiritual progress must go hand-in-hand with social reform. Mr. Modi noted that the Guru used spirituality as a tool for public welfare, a quality that even Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore admired and drew inspiration from.
He said India is now taking these very values to the global stage through initiatives like ‘One World, One Health’ movement, ‘One Sun, One Earth, One Grid’, and the G20 theme One Earth, One Family, One Future. All of these efforts, he said, are inspired by the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam world is one family.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to inclusive development, the Prime Minister said that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, millions of poor, Dalit, and marginalised families have been given permanent houses equipped with all basic amenities. He emphasised that these are not just homes, but symbols of dignity and empowerment.
The Prime Minister stressed the need for India to lead on every front- economic, social, and military-and said the country is steadily moving in that direction. Initiatives like Skill India, he noted, are empowering youth and fostering self-reliance.
The event was also addressed by Union Minister George Kurian, Member of Parliament Adoor Prakash, and seers from Sivagiri Mutt.
The historic conversation between Sree Narayana Guru and Mahatma Gandhi took place on 12th March 1925 during Mahatma Gandhi’s visit to Sivagiri Mutt. It covered critical issues like the Vaikom Satyagraha, religious conversions, non-violence, untouchability, salvation, and the upliftment of the downtrodden.
The centenary celebration brought together spiritual leaders and dignitaries to reflect on this visionary dialogue, which continues to shape India’s social and moral fabric. It stands as a powerful tribute to the shared ideals of justice, unity, and spiritual harmony.
