NIPER Hajipur signs MoUs with IPC, Boehringer Ingelheim to boost pharma research, standards

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Hajipur has signed separate memoranda of understanding (mou) with the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission and Boehringer Ingelheim India Pvt Ltd on Friday to strengthen pharmaceutical research, regulatory science and patient safety.
The agreements were signed at Kartavya Bhawan in New Delhi in the presence of Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers.
The MoU with the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, aims to enhance pharmacopeial standards, improve patient safety and advance research across pharmaceuticals, medical devices and related healthcare products.
Under this partnership, the two institutions will undertake joint research in areas such as impurity profiling and safety correlation of drugs, development and validation of advanced analytical methods, and establishment of quality control protocols. The collaboration will also support the development of reference standards for complex biologics, biosimilars and emerging therapies, including cell and gene therapies, for inclusion in the Indian Pharmacopoeia. It also envisages capacity-building and training initiatives in specialised areas such as biosimilars, cell and gene therapy, and blood and blood-related products.
Separately, NIPER Hajipur signed an agreement with Boehringer Ingelheim India Pvt Ltd to promote industry–academia collaboration and accelerate healthcare innovation. Under this partnership, the company will provide researchers access to its opnMe open science platform to facilitate scientific exchange and support research.
The collaboration is expected to build research capacity at NIPER Hajipur, offer hands-on training to students, and generate early-stage proof-of-concept data that can be scaled into preclinical development, with a focus on translating scientific discoveries into potential therapies.
Speaking on the occasion, Manoj Joshi said such collaborations are key to strengthening India’s regulatory science ecosystem and bridging the gap between research and commercialisation.
