New Gate from Sarona Station and Link Road opened for AIIMS patients

Raipur, Feb 26: A new approach road from Sarona Railway station to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raipur, and new gate no. 6 of AIIMS has been dedicated to the nation on Thursday by LS MP Sunil Soni and Director Prof. (Dr.) Nitin M. Nagarkar. Now, patients and their wards can travel only 250 meters from the Station to reach AIIMS instead of covering around three Km earlier. Soni also announced plans to provide an e-vehicle facility and renovation of the Sarona station. He also proposed to rename Sarona station as ‘AIIMS-Sarona Railway Station’.
LS MP Sunil Soni dedicated Gate no. 6 and approach road by cutting the ribbon in a small ceremony. While addressing a small gathering of locals and staff of the AIIMS he said that patients were bearing extra cost, distance, and time to reach AIIMS. A new facility will save their efforts. ‘Earlier, patients had to travel around three Km from the Station through Tatibandh. Now, they can reach only in five minutes to AIIMS. Around 22 local trains have a stoppage at Sarona Station. Dozens of patients and their relatives will immensely be benefited with the new facility’, he said. Soni informed that he is in contact with railway officials for the renovation of Sarona Station with 1.5 Crore. Road beautification and light will be provided for easy access. He also informed that there is a proposal to rename the Station as ‘AIIMS-Sarona Railway Station’.
He thanked AIIMS, Railway, and Raipur Nagar Palik Nigam for their efforts. Prof. Nagarkar welcomed Sunil Soni and credited new development to his efforts. ‘There is an average of 1500 patients coming every-day to the AIIMS. Most of them are coming from other districts and states. Link road to the station will give them a great relief in terms of saving money and time’, he said. Deputy Director (Admin.) Anshuman Gupta, Financial Advisor BK Agrawal, Dean Prof. SP Dhaneria, Prof. Pradeep Kumar Patra, and Executive Engineer Manoj Rastogi graced the programme.
