NCC Launches Nationwide Cyber Security Training Programme for Cadets
In a move to strengthen cyber awareness and digital preparedness among youth, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) has launched a nationwide Cyber Security Capacity Building Programme in collaboration with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT).
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two organisations in the presence of Director General NCC Lt Gen Virendra Vats and Director General NIELIT Dr Madan Mohan Tripathi.
The programme is designed to equip NCC cadets with knowledge of cyber awareness, digital hygiene, and practical cyber defence skills through a structured training framework.
It will be conducted in two stages. The first stage, titled Cyber Security Awareness Programme, is a 15-hour online training module aimed at providing basic knowledge of digital literacy, safe internet practices, cyber hygiene, and common cyber threats. This module will be accessible to all NCC cadets across the country through the NIELIT Digital University platform.
The second stage, known as the Cyber Defender Programme, will be a 60-hour offline training for selected cadets based on merit. This advanced module will include hands-on training, real-life simulations, and practical exposure to cyber security tools and techniques to help cadets identify and respond to cyber threats effectively.
According to officials, the initiative aims to create a network of trained NCC Cyber Cadets who can promote safe digital practices and spread cyber awareness at the grassroots level.
The programme is also aligned with the government’s Digital India initiative and the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), focusing on building relevant skills among youth in the field of cyber security.
