‘Nari Shakti Vandan Run’ to Be Held Across Seven Cities on April 17–18

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will organise a nationwide ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Run’ on April 17 and 18 across seven major cities, as part of efforts to promote women-led development and enhance public participation.
The event, themed #NariShaktiVandan, will be held in Delhi, Cuttack, Patna, Mumbai, Indore, Bengaluru and Jaipur. According to the Ministry, the run will take place in Patna and Jaipur on April 17, while Delhi, Cuttack, Mumbai, Indore and Bengaluru will host the event on April 18.
The programme will begin in the early morning with participant registration, followed by an inaugural session featuring an address by the chief guest and administration of the Nari Shakti pledge. The run, covering a distance of around 2 to 3 kilometres, will be organised at prominent public locations in each city. The event will conclude with certificate distribution.
The initiative aims to ensure wide participation of women from diverse backgrounds, including students, professionals, entrepreneurs, sportspersons and members of civil society. Participation is being facilitated through platforms such as MY Bharat, the National Service Scheme (NSS), the Sports Authority of India (SAI), and other partner organisations.
The event is also being organised alongside the ongoing Parliament session from April 16 to 18, where discussions related to women’s representation and delimitation are underway. It seeks to raise awareness and encourage greater engagement in governance and democratic processes.
The Ministry said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to women empowerment and aims to strengthen the role of women in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.
