Ladakh LG Vinai Kumar Saxena meets PM Modi, discusses development roadmap

Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, on Friday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and discussed key aspects related to the Union Territory’s development.
During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor sought guidance from the Prime Minister and reiterated his commitment to advancing Ladakh’s growth in line with the Centre’s vision.
In a post on X, the LG’s office said Saxena expressed his resolve to fulfil the Prime Minister’s vision of transforming Ladakh into a leading destination on the global tourism map.
The Prime Minister’s Office also confirmed the meeting, noting that the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh had called on Prime Minister Modi.
The discussions come amid ongoing efforts to promote sustainable development, improve infrastructure and boost tourism in the region.
Earlier, Saxena had welcomed the Union Home Ministry’s decision to revoke the detention of social activist Sonam Wangchuk, calling it a positive step towards fostering peace, harmony and mutual trust in Ladakh.
He had emphasised that Ladakh’s identity is rooted in its peaceful and patriotic ethos, and stressed that issues should be resolved through dialogue and cooperation rather than agitation.
The Lieutenant Governor reiterated that the Union Territory administration remains committed to inclusive development, good governance and constructive engagement with all stakeholders to ensure long-term stability and prosperity in the region.
