Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for the NSIC Technology-cum-Common Facility Centre (TCFC) at Peenya Industrial Area in Bengaluru, aimed at strengthening technology access, skilling and innovation support for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Karnataka and neighbouring regions.
The facility, being developed by National Small Industries Corporation with support from the Ministry of MSME, will be built at an estimated cost of around Rs 46 crore. Minister of State for MSME Shobha Karandlaje, senior government officials, industry representatives and entrepreneurs were also present at the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Manjhi said the government is working towards establishing modern technology and common facility centres across the country to create globally competitive MSMEs and strengthen India’s manufacturing ecosystem. He said such centres would help small businesses adopt advanced technologies, improve productivity and generate employment opportunities.
Karandlaje said Peenya, one of the country’s largest industrial clusters, requires advanced institutional infrastructure to meet the evolving technological needs of MSMEs. She said the proposed centre would support innovation, entrepreneurship, skilling and industrial growth in Karnataka and neighbouring regions.
MSME Secretary Bharat Khera said the ministry continues to focus on technology upgradation, digital transformation and innovation-led growth of MSMEs. He added that the centre would provide integrated technology services, common facility infrastructure and incubation support under one roof.
According to the government, the upcoming facility will include advanced material testing laboratories, skilling and training infrastructure, innovation support services, Industry 4.0 solutions, drone technology and industrial automation infrastructure for MSMEs.
