Israeli PM appoints Major General David Zini as new Shin Bet chief replacing Ronen Bar –

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has appointed Major General David Zini as the next head of the Shin Bet, Israel’s domestic intelligence agency. Zini will replace Ronen Bar, who has come under increasing criticism for the agency’s failure to prevent the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks. Zini has held a series of senior operational posts in the Israeli military, including with the elite Sayeret Matkal special forces and as head of the Commando Brigade.
