INS Sudarshini makes first international port call of Lokayan 26 in Salalah, Oman

Indian Naval Sail Training Ship INS Sudarshini arrived at the port of Salalah in Oman on February 2, marking the first international port call of its flagship transoceanic voyage, Lokayan 26. The visit represents a significant milestone in the vessel’s ten-month-long deployment aimed at showcasing India’s maritime heritage and strengthening international maritime cooperation.
INS Sudarshini sailed from its home port of Kochi on January 20, navigating the seasonal winds of the Arabian Sea to complete the first leg of its journey. The port call at Salalah highlights the long-standing maritime ties and strategic partnership between India and Oman, both of which share a rich seafaring history in the Indian Ocean region.
During the three-day visit, the ship’s crew is scheduled to engage in a series of professional interactions and training exchanges with the Royal Navy of Oman. As part of its outreach efforts, INS Sudarshini will also be open to school children and local residents, aiming to promote maritime awareness and strengthen people-to-people connections.
The ongoing Lokayan 26 voyage continues to symbolize India’s enduring seafaring legacy and reflects the Indian Navy’s commitment to maritime diplomacy, goodwill missions, and fostering international cooperation across global oceans.
