India’s spiritual vision sees divinity in nature and in every human being: Vice President Radhakrishnan

Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Thursday said India’s spiritual philosophy recognises divinity in nature and in every human being, emphasising that Hindu consciousness goes beyond rituals and represents a comprehensive way of life.

The Vice-President made the remarks while participating as the Chief Guest at the inauguration of the Rajagopuram, Kalasarohan and Mahakumbhabhishekam ceremony at the Sri Veerabhadreshwar Temple.

Addressing the gathering at Shree Kshetra Yaduru in Karnataka’s Belagavi district, V-P Radhakrishnan described the event as a moment of spiritual resurgence and civilisational reaffirmation. He said Bharat is not merely a nation but a living civilisation shaped by a continuous flow of consciousness from the Indus Valley to Kanyakumari.

Highlighting India’s spiritual heritage, he said the country’s philosophy is rooted in the timeless idea of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which promotes universal brotherhood and harmony.

The Vice-President also highlighted the significant role of the Veera-Shaiva Lingayat tradition in contributing to spiritual, educational, cultural and social upliftment in Karnataka and neighbouring Maharashtra. He noted that Veera-Shaiva mutts and temples have played a transformative role in promoting values such as faith, service and social harmony.

V-P Radhakrishnan paid tribute to the spiritual vision of Shiva Yogi Shri Kadasiddheshwar Swamiji, who rediscovered and revived the sacred site, saying the effort helped rekindle the eternal spirit of Sanatana Dharma.

“Sanatana Dharma may be tested by time, but it can never be erased,” the Vice-President said, while appreciating the efforts of successive pontiffs of the Kadasiddheshwar Mutt in preserving rituals, worship and renovation works at the temple.

Referring to the vision of “Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi” articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said India’s development and cultural heritage must progress together. The Vice-President said the country is emerging as a technologically advanced and economically strong nation while remaining rooted in its civilisational values.

Describing the inauguration of the Rajagopuram as a reaffirmation of faith and tradition, V-P Radhakrishnan said the revival of sacred spaces is not merely about architecture but about restoring cultural self-confidence and spiritual awareness.

Among those present at the ceremony were Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot, Rajya Sabha MP Iranna Kadadi, Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development M. B. Patil and several religious leaders, along with a large number of devotees.
