Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet ships arrive in Singapore for operational deployment
Indian Naval Ships Udaygiri, Kavaratti and Shakti of the Eastern Fleet arrived at Changi Naval Base in Singapore on July 1 as part of India’s ongoing operational deployment in the Southeast Asia region, the Ministry of Defence said on Thursday.
The deployment, under the command of Rear Admiral Alok Ananda, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, reflects the strong and long-standing ties between the Indian Navy and the Republic of Singapore Navy. The visit is in line with the Government of India’s Act East Policy, the vision of MAHASAGAR and the objectives of the ASEAN–India Year of Maritime Cooperation 2026.
During the port call, the three Indian warships will participate in a series of professional engagements with the Republic of Singapore Navy, including cross-deck visits, professional interactions and discussions on issues of mutual maritime interest.
According to the Ministry of Defence, these engagements will enable personnel of both navies to exchange operational experiences and best practices, while enhancing mutual understanding and interoperability.
The ministry said the visit underscores India’s commitment to fostering collective maritime security, promoting regional cooperation and expanding collaboration with maritime partners. It added that the port call to Singapore reinforces the shared vision of India and Singapore for a safe, secure and inclusive maritime environment.
