Indian Army contingent leaves for Cambodia for CINBAX

An Indian Army contingent has departed for Cambodia to participate in the second edition of the India-Cambodia bilateral military exercise, CINBAX-II, scheduled from May 4 to 17 in Kampong Speu province.

The exercise will be held at the Techo Sen Phnom Thom Mreas Provincial Royal Cambodian Air Force Training Centre (Camp Basil) under the framework of Chapter VII of the United Nations mandate, with a focus on operations in sub-conventional environments.

The Indian contingent comprises 120 personnel, primarily from a battalion of the Maratha Light Infantry Regiment, while the Cambodian side has fielded 160 personnel from the Royal Cambodian Army.

The exercise will focus on counter-terrorism operations in line with scenarios encountered during UN peacekeeping missions and will include a mix of tactical drills, structured discussions, and a final validation exercise.

Specialised training modules such as drone operations, mortar handling, and sniper tactics are part of the programme, aimed at enhancing interoperability and coordination between the two forces.

The exercise will also provide an opportunity to exchange best practices and operational experiences, particularly in semi-urban settings.

CINBAX-II is seen as a reflection of the growing defence cooperation between India and Cambodia and is expected to further strengthen bilateral ties while improving joint capabilities to address emerging regional and global security challenges.
