IndiaAI Mission joins hands with Karya to build inclusive AI ecosystem

The IndiaAI Mission under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with nonprofit organisation Karya to strengthen India’s inclusive artificial intelligence ecosystem through collaboration in data, technology and capacity building.
The partnership will focus on developing, curating and sharing high-quality language and multimodal datasets aimed at building inclusive and representative AI systems. As part of the collaboration, the two organisations will also work on strengthening AIKosh data infrastructure, model evaluation frameworks and standards related to dataset quality, validation and interoperability.
Kavita Bhatia, Scientist ‘G’ at MeitY and COO of the IndiaAI Mission, said that building a truly inclusive AI ecosystem requires datasets that reflect the diversity of India’s people and languages. She added that the partnership with Karya would help create high-quality and representative AI resources.
The collaboration will also support capacity building and ecosystem development through training programmes, workshops, technical consultations and knowledge-sharing initiatives across government bodies and partner institutions.
