India moving ahead with new confidence, says PM Modi at TV9 Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India is moving forward with renewed confidence and resilience, asserting that the country is confronting global challenges head-on while maintaining steady development momentum.

Addressing the TV9 Network Summit themed ‘India and the World’, the Prime Minister described the current global situation as “unprecedented and extremely grave,” and commended the platform for facilitating dialogue at a crucial time.

Highlighting India’s rising global stature, the Prime Minister said the country has emerged as a trusted partner across regions—from the Gulf to the Global West, and from the Global South to neighbouring nations. “We are with India, with India’s interests, with peace, and with dialogue,” he said, underlining India’s independent and balanced foreign policy approach.

Referring to global disruptions since the Covid-19 pandemic, the Prime Minister noted that India’s unity and resilience have enabled it to navigate multiple challenges. He said the country has demonstrated strong capabilities in relationship-building, decision-making, and crisis management in recent weeks.

On economic resilience, the Prime Minister said India has adopted a model of diversification to ensure stability in critical sectors such as energy, fertilisers, and essential goods, minimising the impact of global supply chain disruptions on citizens.

Speaking about global conflicts, particularly in West Asia, the Prime Minister said that while such crises may be geographically distant, their impact is felt worldwide. He stressed the need for restraint and collective effort in times of crisis.

The Prime Minister also outlined key development initiatives undertaken in recent weeks, including the expansion of metro rail networks, infrastructure projects such as new corridors and airports, and policy decisions like the extension of the Jal Jeevan Mission till 2028. He also highlighted financial support measures, including the disbursal of over ₹18,000 crore under PM-Kisan and relief for MSMEs and exporters.

Emphasising governance reforms, the Prime Minister referred to the principle that measurable outcomes drive improvement and transformation. He cited data indicating accelerated progress across sectors—highway construction, port efficiency, startup growth, expansion of medical education, financial inclusion, and airport infrastructure.

Highlighting regional development, he said states across the country are witnessing transformation, with emerging sectors and improved connectivity reshaping local economies. He added that efforts are underway to convert past developmental imbalances into future opportunities.

Referring to West Bengal, the Prime Minister noted its historic role in India’s growth and called for prioritising national interest above political considerations to ensure continued progress.

Concluding his address on the occasion of Shaheed Diwas, the Prime Minister paid tribute to freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar, as well as remembering Ram Manohar Lohia on his birth anniversary. He said their ideals of placing the nation above self continue to inspire India’s journey towards becoming a developed and self-reliant nation.
