India, Kuwait stress dialogue to safeguard energy and trade amid regional tensions

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held a virtual meeting with his Kuwaiti counterpart Osama Khaled Boodai on Friday, with both sides emphasising the need for dialogue and diplomacy to ensure stability in energy supplies and trade flows amid ongoing regional tensions.
During the interaction, Goyal expressed concern over the loss and damage caused in Kuwait due to the conflict and reiterated India’s position that lasting peace in the region is essential not only for regional stability but also for global economic security.
The discussions focused on strengthening the India-Kuwait strategic partnership by leveraging opportunities in trade and commerce. Goyal highlighted that robust bilateral ties are key to enhancing economic cooperation and achieving shared prosperity.
He also appreciated the efforts of Kuwaiti authorities in ensuring the safety and well-being of the Indian community residing in the country.
Both ministers agreed that disruptions to energy supplies and trade routes must be addressed urgently and resolved through peaceful means. They underlined that dialogue remains the most effective path to restoring normalcy in the region.
Reaffirming India’s role as a reliable partner, Goyal conveyed New Delhi’s willingness to assist Kuwait in addressing supply chain challenges, particularly in ensuring food security.
