India is eager for progress and determined to become self-reliant: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India is eager to become developed and self-reliant. Delivering the sixth Ramnath Goenka Lecture in New Delhi, Mr Modi said that people have seen how the past 25 years of the 21st century have passed with great speed, and one challenge after another has come and yet the pace of India could not be stopped. He said, despite global challenges, the Indian economy is growing at a faster rate. He said, India is heading towards the vibrant future. Mr Modi said, India is not just an emerging market but also an emerging model. He said, today, the world sees the Indian Growth Model as a model of hope. Referring to the recent Bihar Assembly elections, the Prime Minister said that the State has recorded the highest ever turnout since 1951. The Prime Minister said that he wants to tell all the States that the result of Bihar shows as to what kind of government people want. He said, the people of Bihar gave the Lau Prasad led RJD regime in the State for fifteen years but he could have done a lot for development of Bihar, but he chose the path of lawlessness. The Prime Minister said that whether it is central government or state governments led by different parties, their primary focus should be only on development. Mr Modi strongly encouraged the State governments to foster a spirit of healthy competition by attracting investments and promoting growth. He suggested that organizing competitions to improve the ease of doing business could be a great step in this direction.
