‘India has got a new identity’: Sri Sri Ravi Shankar lauds transformation under Modi govt

Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on Sunday hailed the transformation witnessed in the country over the past decade, saying India has acquired a “new identity” under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Dhyan Mandir at the The Art of Living Foundation International Centre in Bengaluru, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said the country had become cleaner, safer and more confident over the years.
“From the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to the elimination of red terror, the country has found a new identity globally while improving lives and livelihoods at the grassroots level. India today is cleaner, more beautiful, safer and more peaceful,” he said.
He further said that foreign powers once doubted India’s ability to bring about large-scale change but the country had now emerged as a nation that believes in giving rather than receiving.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the newly built Dhyan Mandir as part of the Art of Living Foundation’s 45th anniversary celebrations and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s 70th birthday events. The programme was attended by several spiritual leaders and dignitaries.
Praising the Modi government’s role in the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said: “For many years, Shri Ram resided in a tent in Ayodhya. You removed all obstacles and took the initiative to build a grand temple.”
The spiritual leader also lauded PM Modi for promoting India’s ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam on the global stage and said the Prime Minister had positively impacted crores of Indians.
Earlier, PM Modi extended birthday wishes to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and expressed hope that he would attend the spiritual leader’s centenary celebrations in the future.
