India, GCC stress dialogue, stability and supply chain resilience amid regional tensions

India and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have reaffirmed their commitment to regional stability, resilient supply chains, and stronger economic cooperation amid ongoing geopolitical uncertainties in West Asia.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held a virtual meeting with Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, to discuss key regional and economic issues.

During the interaction, Goyal welcomed the recently announced ceasefire in the region and expressed hope that it would lead to lasting peace and stability. He reiterated India’s consistent position that differences should be resolved through dialogue and mutual understanding.

The Minister highlighted the deep-rooted people-to-people ties between India and GCC countries, describing them as the foundation of strong economic and commercial relations. He also expressed confidence that the GCC would continue to act as a unifying force in the region.

Extending India’s solidarity with GCC nations, Goyal assured support in addressing supply chain challenges, particularly for essential commodities such as food items. He appreciated the steps taken by GCC countries to strengthen logistics networks and explore alternative trade routes to maintain supply chain resilience.

Both sides underscored the importance of coordinated efforts to ensure smooth and predictable trade flows, especially in the face of disruptions caused by regional developments.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further deepen the India-GCC economic partnership through continued cooperation and mutual support.
