India, Egypt boost Counter-Terrorism ties at 4th Joint Working Group Meeting –

The 4th meeting of the India-Egypt Joint Working Group on Counter- Terrorism was held yesterday in Cairo. Led by Indian Ambassador K.D. Dewal and Egyptian Ambassador Walid Al-Fiqi, the meeting saw the participation of representatives of various agencies from both countries. The Ministry of External Affairs, in a statement, has said that during the meeting, India and Egypt strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Egypt reaffirmed its full support for India in confronting all forms of violence, and both sides agreed to strengthen joint efforts in combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. The two nations further exchanged views on terror threats in their respective countries and regions. They discussed emerging challenges like terrorist use of technology, cryptocurrencies, and cyberspace. The two countries agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in anti-money laundering, drug trafficking, and organised crime and deepen training and capacity building. They also emphasised multilateral cooperation, including in the United Nations (UN), BRICS, and the Global Counter Terrorism Forum, and reiterated their commitment to the UN Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism.
