India, Bahrain emphasise stability and trade continuity amid regional tensions

India and Bahrain have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening economic ties and ensuring stable trade flows amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia, following a high-level virtual meeting between the two countries.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held discussions with Bahrain’s Minister of Industry and Commerce Abdulla Bin Adel Fakhro, focusing on regional stability, supply chain resilience, and bilateral cooperation.

During the interaction, Goyal welcomed the recently announced ceasefire in the region and expressed hope that it would be sustained. He noted that stability is crucial for restoring normalcy and ensuring uninterrupted trade, particularly through maritime routes that are vital for global commerce.

The Minister also conveyed India’s solidarity with Bahrain and condemned recent attacks on key installations in the country. He reiterated India’s support for Bahrain’s security and stability, including the safety of maritime operations in the region.

Highlighting the importance of people-to-people ties, Goyal expressed appreciation for the Bahraini government’s support to the Indian community, thanking authorities for ensuring their safety and well-being during the period of uncertainty.

Both sides agreed on the need to maintain predictable and resilient supply chains, especially in the face of disruptions caused by regional conflicts. The discussions also underscored the importance of continued engagement to further deepen the India-Bahrain economic partnership.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared intent of both countries to enhance cooperation across sectors while navigating evolving global challenges.
