Garbage vehicles to be purchased at Rs 7 cr to maintain cleanliness of Raipur

Raipur, Nov 20: To further improve the cleanliness system in 70 wards of the city, Raipur Municipal Corporation is preparing to increase the cleaning resources. To this end the Municipal Corporation has planned to buy vehicles at Rs 7 crore received from from 15th Finance Commission. Keeping in mind the need of cleanliness in the city JCB, Poklane machine, Dumper and Tata 407 vehicles for carrying garbage will be purchased. For this the process of tender will carried out soon. At present, the Health Department of the Municipal Corporation is working on rented tractors for the cleanliness of the city and for lifting and carrying the waste from the drains. The corporation has to spend Rs 70 lakh every month on cleanliness. Most of the vehicles available with the corporation are not being used due to lack of maintenance.
The cleaning of the roads of the capital Raipur is being done on contract with a mechanized system. For this, the corporation has to spend lakhs of rupees every month. As Raipur Municipal Corporation wants to continue its better performance in cleanliness ranking, it is making every effort to make adequate arrangements for necessary resources for cleanliness. The state government is also getting a budget of crores for this. Mayor Aijaj Dhebar has planned to buy JCB, Poklane machine as well as dumper, Tata 407 vehicles for carrying garbage with Rs 7 crore from 15th Finance Commission. Tender for the same will be floated soon. As many as 3865 sanitation workers are working in 70 wards of the Municipal Corporation. They are carrying out road cleaning, drain-sweeping work, septic tank cleaning, GVP removal work, cleaning of public places, sanitization, cleaning around water sources, river and pond, anti-larva in the morning for mosquito eradication in all wards of the city.
