Eight Maoists killed in encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur

In Chhattisgarh, eight Maoists have been killed in an encounter with security forces in Bijapur district today.

The bodies of killed Maoists have been recovered. Security forces have also recovered several weapons including INSAS rifle and Barrell Grenade Launcher from the spot.

According to the information given by the police, the District Reserve Guard, Special Task Force, CRPF and Joint team of Cobra Battalion had launched an anti-Maoist campaign after receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of Maoists in the Gangalur area.

Since this morning, there was intermittent firing between security forces and Naxalites.

The search operation is still going on in the area.
