‘Dynamic, enterprising nature of people noteworthy’: PM Narendra Modi on Gujarat Day

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended greetings to the people of Gujarat on the occasion of Gujarat Day, celebrating the state’s rich history, vibrant culture, and contributions to India’s progress.

Posting on X, he said, “Warm greetings to the people of Gujarat on the special occasion of Gujarat Day. This day celebrates the state’s rich history, vibrant culture, and remarkable spirit. Gujarat has made an outstanding contribution to India’s progress. The dynamic and enterprising nature of its people is noteworthy. May Gujarat continue to scale new heights of progress in the coming times.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also greeted the people on the occasion. In a post on X, he said, “Heartfelt greetings to the people of the state on its Foundation Day. Gujarat is a sacred land of glorious history, rich culture, and unique entrepreneurship.

“From independence to integration, and from cooperation to self-employment, Gujarat has made significant contributions to building a prosperous and strong nation. By preserving its cultural heritage in India and abroad, the state has powerfully reflected the spirit of ‘One India, Great India’. May Lord Somnath bless the people of Gujarat with happiness, prosperity, and splendour,” he added.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, in his message, extended greetings to Gujaratis across the world and highlighted the state’s development journey shaped by the guidance and blessings of leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, along with the contributions of several other visionaries.

He said Gujarat has consistently stood as a symbol of peace, progress, enterprise, and good governance, and continues to play a leading role in India’s growth story.

He further emphasised that the state is working towards becoming a global leader in sectors such as green energy, semiconductors, and emerging technologies, and called upon people to unite in achieving the vision of a developed Gujarat contributing to a developed India.

Gujarat Day is observed on May 1 every year to mark the formation of the state in 1960, after it was carved out of the erstwhile Bombay State.

The day celebrates the state’s cultural heritage, identity, and progress, and is marked by various events and programmes across Gujarat.
