Divya Kala Mela 2025 concludes at Kartavya Path, showcases Divyang entrepreneurship and inclusion

The nine-day Divya Kala Mela 2025, organised by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, concluded on Sunday at Kartavya Path near India Gate, reinforcing the message that disability does not limit potential but perspective does.

Held from December 13 to 21, the mela served as a national platform highlighting the entrepreneurial skills, creativity and economic contribution of Divyang artisans and entrepreneurs from across the country. The event emphasised opportunity over sympathy, promoting self-reliance and inclusive growth.

The Delhi edition marked the 28th Divya Kala Mela since the initiative was launched at Kartavya Path in December 2022. Across all editions held nationwide, more than 2,360 Divyang participants have taken part, generating cumulative business of over ₹23 crore. In the Delhi event, around 100 Divyang artisans and entrepreneurs from 20 states showcased products ranging from handicrafts and home décor to organic food items, with sales crossing ₹2 crore.

Employment and financial inclusion were key focus areas of the mela. A special job fair organised on December 16 saw participation from 157 Divyang youth, with 99 candidates shortlisted and several receiving on-the-spot job offers from private sector companies. The National Divyang Finance and Development Corporation (NDFDC) sanctioned loans exceeding ₹1.05 crore to support Divyang entrepreneurs, while ALIMCO facilitated the distribution and registration of assistive devices to enhance independence and productivity.

Cultural and experiential activities were among the highlights of the event. The “Divya Kala Shakti” cultural programme featured performances by Divyang artists from the Delhi-NCR region, while the Experience Zone and adaptive sports such as Blind Cricket and Boccia offered visitors insights into the abilities and challenges of persons with disabilities.

DEPwD and NDFDC thanked the public, local administration and Kartavya Path authorities for their support and reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding such initiatives nationwide. Officials said the programme aligns with the broader goal of building an inclusive, dignified and opportunity-driven society where Divyangjan are active partners in India’s journey towards self-reliance.
