Consumer Affairs Dept sets up AI-enabled helpline for grievance resolution

The Department of Consumer Affairs has set up an AI-enabled National Consumer Helpline (NCH) system which offers sector-wise analysis of grievances. The Helpline is accessible for any grievances related to products or services via the toll-free number: 1-9-1-5 or through its website “consumer helpline(dot)gov(dot)in”. The Department said that the new technology-driven approach is aimed at improving the speed and efficiency of resolving consumer issues, particularly in the education sector.

 

The Department also credited various technological advancements for a tenfold increase in the number of calls from around 12 thousand 500 in December 2015 to over 1 lakh 55 thousand in December last year.
