Chhattisgarh Textile Sector: Emerging Hub with Central Support
New Industrial Policy Boosts Investment, Employment, and Traditional Textile Heritage
Textile Sector Gains Momentum in Chhattisgarh
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh in New Delhi to discuss expansion, investment, and employment opportunities in the textile industry. Under the new industrial development policy (2024–30), textiles have been declared a thrust sector, attracting investors with special incentives and grants.
Employment Opportunities through Industrial Policy
The state government’s policy emphasizes large‑scale job creation. Special provisions have been made for industries employing more than 1,000 people. Given the labor‑intensive nature of textiles and apparel, Chhattisgarh is rapidly emerging as an attractive destination for textile investments.
Nava Raipur: Building a Textile Ecosystem
Nava Raipur Atal Nagar is witnessing the establishment of new textile units. The government aims to develop a holistic ecosystem that integrates design, production, skill development, modern technology, and market access. This ecosystem is expected to generate significant opportunities for women, youth, and local entrepreneurs.
Tradition Meets Modern Fashion Technology
Chhattisgarh’s rich textile heritage, especially Kosa silk from Champa, will be integrated with modern design, branding, and technology. The upcoming National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) campus will play a crucial role in training youth, supporting artisans, and strengthening innovation in textile design and manufacturing.
Towards a Central India Textile Hub
Union Minister Giriraj Singh praised the state’s initiatives and assured full central support in technology, innovation, and skill development. With favorable policies, resources, and growing investments, Chhattisgarh is poised to establish itself as a leading textile and apparel hub in Central India.
