Centre felicitates five states for DigiLocker integration initiatives

The Centre on Monday felicitated Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Nagaland and Rajasthan for integrating DigiLocker with state government services as part of efforts to strengthen digital governance and citizen service delivery.
The recognition was conferred during the National Consultative Workshop on Strengthening Cybersecurity Frameworks for State Data held on May 11. The initiative was led by the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), which has been working to integrate DigiLocker with citizen services across states to improve digital governance and public service delivery.
According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the states were recognised for large-scale DigiLocker adoption and integration with departmental services, aimed at simplifying document access and reducing physical verification requirements for citizens.
Gujarat onboarded 65 per cent of its services onto DigiLocker, benefiting over 1.92 crore citizens. The state was also recognised for introducing digital disability certificates for availing free bus transport services, the ministry said.
Karnataka integrated 73 per cent of government e-services with DigiLocker and recorded the highest number of DigiLocker accounts, with over 2.7 crore registered users. The state also digitised around 3 crore electricity bill records by integrating all five electricity distribution companies.
Kerala onboarded more than 117 services in less than seven days in coordination with multiple departments, while Nagaland integrated over 32 services within a month under both issuer and requestor models. Rajasthan rolled out the Jan Aadhaar Family Register through DigiLocker, covering more than 7.5 crore citizens, and also accelerated integration of electricity bill and other services.
The felicitation was carried out by Nand Kumarum, Joint Secretary, Digital Governance Division, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, in the presence of senior officials from the ministry, CERT-In and the National Informatics Centre.
Speaking at the event, Kumarum said secure and citizen-centric digital platforms such as DigiLocker are central to India’s vision of trusted digital governance. The government said the initiative reflects its broader push towards interoperable and scalable digital public infrastructure for public service delivery.
