CBI files fresh FIR against Karti Chidambaram in alleged corruption case

Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI has filed a fresh FIR against the son of former Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Congress MP Karti Chidambaram in an alleged corruption case. The case pertains to an alleged suspicious payment made by alcoholic beverage company Diageo Scotland and Sequoia Capital to Advantage Strategic Consulting Private Limited, a company controlled by Karti Chidambaram and one of his close aides.

The FIR has been filed for allegedly giving relief to Diageo Scotland over a ban on the duty-free sale of its whisky. The case is related to alleged irregularities in the lifting of a ban imposed on the company for the sale of duty-free liquor in India in 2008.
