Asian, European indices down amid US’s modified reciprocal tariffs

 

Major Asian stock indices ended down today following US President Donald Trump’s modified reciprocal tariffs on several countries. South Korea’s Kospi index plunged over 3.8 per cent weighed down by government’s tax reform plans and lingering trade uncertainties, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index lost over one percent, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index dropped over 0.6 percent, Singapore’s Strait Times index dipped almost half per cent, and China’s Shanghai Composite dived more than 0.3 percent.

        Major European indices were trading down in intra-day trade. France’s CAC 40 dipped over two per cent, Germany’s DAX was trading more than 1.7 percent down, and London’s FTSE 100 lost over half  percent, when reports last came in.
