RLG Clean to Green Campaign intends to touch over 1.8 million individuals

Tackling India’s Electronic Waste Problem, RLG Clean to Green Campaign in Raipur

Raipur, Feb 20: Reverse Logistics Group (RLG), a leading global service provider of comprehensive reverse logistics solutions launched its flagship campaign ‘Clean to Green’ in May 2020 and will be running till March 2021. The campaign aimed at creating awareness and sensitizing consumers on responsible disposal of electronics and safe practices for recycling by partnering with responsible organizations.
India is currently the fourth largest producer of e-waste in the world, producing 2 million tons annually, however, only 0 .036 million tonnes of waste was processed. About 95 per cent of India’s e-waste is recycled in the informal sector and in a crude manner. RLG Clean to Green Campaign was also held in Raipur at various locations.
At the launch of the second year of the campaign, Dr. Sandeep Chatterjee, Director, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said, “The Clean to Green campaign has collaborated with the electronics industry and corporate bodies to ensure responsible disposal and recycling of e-waste in India. This innovative and comprehensive take back solution has driven return of products from manufacturers and distributors and facilitated multiple cycles of use. Such initiatives are required to drive the e-waste management in India.”
The manufacturers/brands associated with RLG India are Microsoft, LG, Lenovo, Pioneer, Motorola, Brother, Siemens, IFB, Haier, Havells, Lloyds, Godrej, Videojet, Videotex, Texlavision, Daiwa, Shinco, Infinix, Techno, Itel and Oraimo and the campaign would actively work with them in promoting safe disposal of e-waste.
In FY 2020-21, Clean to Green launched on 16th May 2020 and till 31stJanuary 2021, 276 Activities (on ground & online) with reach of 4,86,225 in 29 cities have been achieved and will continue till March 2021.
Speaking about the Clean to Green campaign, Ms. Radhika Kalia, Managing Director, RLG India said, “We were encouraged by the success our campaign has attained in last 3 years. In FY 2019-20, we aimed to extend the reach of the Clean to Green campaign to ensure individuals and professionals understand that proper disposal and recycling of electronics is a national priority and lack of awareness of responsible disposal of e-waste amongst masses is a serious issue.”
