Roka Chheka Abhiyan: 104 stray animals caught in BMC area

Bhilai, Jul 07: In order to control the stray animals roaming on the roads within the corporation limits are being caught under the Roka Chheka Abhiyan and also the employees of the corporation are persuading the cattle owners to arrange fodder properly for the cattle.
In compliance with the instructions of the government, the Corporation Commissioner Rituraj Raghuvanshi has asked the animal owners to protect the cattle that they own, make proper arrangements for fodder and water.
The Roka-Chheka Sankalp Abhiyan has been initiated with the sole motive to protect the cow, so that the cattle roaming unnecessarily can be controlled. The caught cattle are being given back to the ranchers after charging a fine as punishment for leaving them on road. Additional commissioner of Bhilai Corporation, Ashok Dwivedi, informed that the cattle nabbed are being kept in the urban Gauthan and are returned to the owners when they come searching for the cattle only after warning them of stricter action along with imposing a fine. Efforts are being made by the Chhattisgarh government to protect animals. Stray animals roaming on the roads, become a hindrance in the traffic and cause accidents, due to which there is loss of livestock and human life in the accident. Has been appealed to avoid releasing domestic or pet animals to move freely in the streets. Prakash Agarwal, the nodal of the team formed to catch stray animals, said that the team inspected the National Highway, Nandini Road, Chhawani Chowk, Kurud, Avanti Bai Chowk, Gada Chowk, Supela Chowk from Nehru Nagar Chowk to Dabrapara Chowk. 20 stray animals roaming were caught on Wednesday.
Cows, bulls, buffaloes, heifers and other animals caught under the Roka Chheka campaign have been kept in the urban Gauthan run by the corporation. Since the team has been formed under the Roka Chheka campaign, a total of 104 animals have so far been brought to the city Gauthan of the corporation. On getting information about the capture of the animals, 14 cattle owners took away their cattle by paying a fine of Rs 8000 and are filling the resolution that they will themselves protect their animals, make proper arrangements for fodder and water so that the animals will not roam on the roads and thereby not obstruct the movement of
vehicles.
